The dark night
fills with fear, but…

The frigid winter
is even worse, but..

Tree, O shivering tree,
stripped of all your clothes,

As joy comes
at the end of a test,

once the darkness leaves,
the morning soon arrives.

At the end of winter,
a spring awaits.

In what this simple cycle
wisely teaches,

wipe dry your eyes,
O shivering tree.



캄캄한 밤은
무섭지만

추운 겨울은
더 무섭지만

나무야 떨고 섰는
발가벗은 나무야

시련 끝에
기쁨이 오듯이

어둠이 가면
아침이 오고

겨울 끝자락에
봄이 기다린단다

이 단순한 순환이
가르치는 지혜로

눈물을 닦아라
떨고 섰는 나무야.
