My whole life I never knew.
Had it happened after she left?
Those little eyes,
why couldn’t they bear the tears
instead of letting them flow?
Those empty, contorted lips
once poured out insults, curses, and shrieks,
so why couldn’t they bear the sobbing
instead of letting it erupt?
Unable to close her eyes,
shut her mouth,
and be still.
Unable to even pray alone.
A crowd of countless numbers has gathered.
Tears and weeping which
seep deeply into capillaries
and spread endlessly towards the heart,
these things she freely shared,
could they be the moisture
of love?



생전에는 미처 몰랐다
그가 떠난 뒤 그러나
조그만 두 눈에서
웬 눈물이 이처럼 참을 수 없이
흘러나오는지
비방과 욕설과 고함 쏟아내던
그 험한 입들 온통 일그러지며
웬 울음 이처럼 억누를 수 없이
터져 나오는지
눈 감고
입 다물고
가만히 있을 수도 없어
혼자서 기도할 수도 없어
수십만 인파가 조용히 모여들었다
실핏줄 깊숙이 스며들어
가슴 속으로 하염없이 번지는
눈물과 울음
아낌없이 그가 나누어 주고 간
사랑의 물기
아닐까
